Pacific Palisades

One of Los Angeles’s most affluent neighborhoods, Pacific Palisades feels like a world apart from the rest of the metro. With its gorgeous waterfront location, expansive homes, community parks, and miles of walking, biking, and horseback riding trails, the neighborhood will make you forget you’re just minutes away from the constant bustle of the big city.

A brief history of Pacific Palisades

In the early 1800s, Pacific Palisades was part of the Rancho Boca de Santa Monica. The land was purchased in 1921 by the Southern California Methodist Episcopal Church, which then founded the neighborhood as a religious-intellectual community.

Through the years, Pacific Palisades evolved into an upscale community, as wealthy residents were drawn in by the milder microclimate compared to the rest of Los Angeles.

In the 1940s, Pacific Palisades welcomed a number of German and Austrian intellectuals and artists who fled Hitler’s Nazi Germany and continued their opposition to the regime in self-exile.

Real estate in Pacific Palisades and Pacific Palisades homes for sale

Pacific Palisades real estate is predominantly made up of multimillion dollar single family homes and estates on expansive lots. You’ll also find quite a few luxury condos and townhomes that provide relatively more affordable but highly desirable options.

Homes in the neighborhood are defined by their beautiful and distinctive architecture in a variety of styles, including Spanish Revival, traditional, and contemporary. There are also a number of Mid Century Modern gems from masters of the design movement.

The highest priced homes are waterfront properties with stunning ocean views, as well as those fronting the Riviera Country Club and the Will Rogers Park. Regardless of the location, homes in Pacific Palisades are highly desirable, with their immaculate landscaping, top of the line finishes, and amenities like swimming pools, entertainment rooms, and beautiful outdoor living spaces.
